Photography Classes in Moline Illinois



Another round of classes will soon be starting!  Check out the schedule and then call Lisa at 309.269.5013 to register!  All classes are $49.00 and will be held at Lisa’s studio or the 15th Avenue Christian Church in Rock Island.  We will break for a one hour lunch on the full day classes.  Full day classes run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY 101                                                                                            Saturday June 13th or Saturday August 22 22nd                                                   Spend the day learning how your camera works.  Topics covered include ISO, aperture priority and shutter priority, white balance, and choosing the appropriate lens.  Bring your camera since there will be lots of opportunity to practice.

ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 1                                                                         Saturday, June 27th                                                                                                             9:00 a.m.  – 3:00 p.m.                                                                                                               Spend the day working your way around Elements and basic editing techniques.

ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 2                                                                      Sunday, June 28th from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.                                                     During the second day, we will play with the creative side of Elements.  Topics include masking techniques, working with textures, and basic composites.

SHOOTING IN MANUAL MODE 1                                                                             Monday, July 6th or Saturday September 12th                                                         9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.                                                                                                             Prerequisites: Digital Photography 101                                                                                       Using your camera’s meter, you will learn how to adjust the ISO, shutter and aperture to correctly expose your image.  The focus will be on shooting in manual mode using available light.

SHOOTING IN MANUAL MODE 2                                                                                   Monday, July 20th or Saturday, September 26th                                                           9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.                                                                                                   Prerequisites: Shooting in Manual Mode 1   As we continue to practice shooting in manual mode, we will add your speed light to the mix. You will learn how to use your speedlight to fill shadows and create a dramatic lighting pattern.

SEE THE LIGHT                                                                                                          Saturday, July 25th or Saturday, September 5th                                                    9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.                                                                                                        Photography is writing with light.  We will spend the day working with all types of light sources and light modifiers.  When you leave this class, you will know how to find and use your main light source.  Bring your camera.

COMPOSITION AND CREATIVITY                                                                                Saturday, August 8th or Saturday September 19th                                                 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.                                                                                                         Learn basic composition techniques that will enhance every image you create.  Topics include a variety of composition elements.  We will also discuss where we may find different sources of art to inspire our creativity.  Please bring a flash drive with 5 images that inspire you.

Lisa is a portrait artist who uses photography as part of a process to capture the personality of animals and the special relationship they have with their owners. Based out of Moline Illnois, she travels throughout the Midwest providing timeless images of family pets. Her fine art portraits can be viewed at various pet businesses throughout the Iowa/Illinois Quad Cities. Lisa holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Western Illinois University and taught in the public schools for many years. She continues to teach photography classes in her studio covering a wide range of topics. Her class sizes are small so she can offer her students a hands-on experience and individual attention. Lisa is a Certified Professional Photographer and has been awarded the Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees through the Professional Photographers of America. She is a member of the American Society of Photographers, one of the most prestigious photographic associations in the world and an association that must be invited into through photographic achievement. Among her many awards and accolades, Lisa has been recognized as one of the top 10 photographers in Illinois in both 2015 and 2016 from the Associated Professional Photographers of Illinois.
